ROB KAPILOW TAKES HIS WHAT MAKES IT GREAT?© TO WASHINGTON DC FOR THE FIRST TIME, ADDING OUR NATION’S CAPITAL TO THE LIST OF CITIES WHERE THE CLASSICAL MUSIC GURU IS AT LARGE

WASHINGTON PERFORMING ARTS SOCIETY AND THE SMITHSONIAN ASSOCIATES PRESENT KAPILOW IN TWO CONCERTS: FEBRUARY 13 AND MARCH 25 AT THE SMITHSONIAN

Rob Kapilow extends the audiences for his award-winning What Makes It Great?© concerts to Washington DC in 2008, with performances on February 13 and March 25 presented by the Washington Performing Arts Society and the Smithsonian Associates. WMIG is already popular in such cities as New York, Boston, Cerritos and Palo Alto, CA.

For Rob’s first WMIG presentation, at the Smithsonian, the subject is Bach’s C major Suite for Cello (BWV 1009), which he will describe and explain with the support of cellist Alexis Pia Gerlach. She will play a complete performance of the Suite’s six movements to finish the concert.

On March 25, Rob and pianist Victor Goldberg will present four works from Book 1 of Debussy’s Preludes for Piano. Kapilow will use each of the preludes’ evocative and descriptive titles to aid in demonstrating to the audience What Makes It Great. And all four Preludes will receive complete performances at the end of the concert.

Washington Performing Arts Society announces an exciting new partnership with the Smithsonian Associates, a premier presenter of recreational adult educational programming in the region; events will be discounted for WPAS and Smithsonian Associate members.
